University of Alberta Multiple Sclerosis Centre Assistant/Associate Professor 

The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, invites applications for a position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with research interests focused on understanding and treating Multiple Sclerosis. The candidate will have a PhD, MD or equivalent training with research interests spanning neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology immunology or cell biology, a record of research excellence including first or senior author publications in leading scientific and medical journals and evidence of ability to secure research grant support as the principal investigator.

The candidate will be based at the University of Alberta, located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They are expected to integrate with and complement ongoing research activities within the University of Alberta Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Centre and the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute (NMHI) at the University of Alberta.

The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health education and research institutions. University of Calgary Assistant Professor in Neuroimmunology

The Department of Clinical Neurosciences and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI) invite applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate may be cross-appointed in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy and the Snyder Institute for Chronic Disease.

We are seeking to recruit a neuroimmunologist, who studies immune regulation and neuro-immune interactions in the context of inflammation, injury and/or repair of the brain and spinal cord.

In the context of this recruitment, the HBI has strengths in multiple sclerosis, spinal cord and nerve injury, stress and stroke research and we welcome applicants whose research interests span one or more of these areas of focus.

Qualifications include a PhD, MD or MD/PhD, with at least three (3) years of postdoctoral training and a strong publication record. Candidates must show evidence of the ability to develop an independent research program.

The position provides 75% protected time for research and includes expectations to contribute to undergraduate and graduate level teaching. This is an excellent opportunity to develop an independent, externally-funded research program within a highly collaborative environment. A generous startup package and appropriate lab space to develop a vigorous research program is available through the HBI.
