Amarpreet Sangha is pursuing Health Science at Mount Royal University, specializing in histology, embryology, and physiology.He moved to Calgary at the age of 10 from Prince Rupert, BC. He enjoys playing soccer,reading nonfiction, and writing creative nonfiction pieces. He completed a pilot study last year that involved investigating the expression of risk genes linked to vitamin D receptor super enhancer regions and their association with phenotype severity in MS. The study this summer will expand on this pilot study and include a literature review on a related topic.
Sara has recently finished her first year of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary.She will be working in Dr. Wee Yong’s lab and is eager to enhance her knowledge of Multiple Sclerosis through research. In her free time, she enjoys baking,dancing, and exploring national parks.
Daniel is 18 years old and just finished his first year in Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary. He has immigrated from Belarus and has been fascinated with science ever since he was a child. His academic interests have narrowed to neuroscience with time, and past research experience in the Stephenson Cardiac MRI lab has sparked his interest in MRI.He now intends to pursue a career in clinical neuroscience research. Outside of university, Daniel enjoys swimming and snowboarding.
Natalie has just completed her third year in the BSc Neuroscience program at the University of Calgary. This will be her second year working in Dr. Alexander McGirr’s lab, investigating the effects of Ibudilast on disease progression in an EAE model of MS. Natalie is involved in multiple U of C clubs, and in her spare time, she enjoys cooking, exercising and listening to music.
Kaylyn is 21 year old and has just completed her fourth yearin microbiology at the University of Calgary. This will be her fourth year studyingMultiple Sclerosis in the context of immunity under Dr. Shalina Ousman. Sheloves playing soccer, volunteering at the Canada Calgary Animal Referral &Emergency Centre, and hopes to become a veterinarian.
